Jealous Sound, The Plus Ones & Jackson at BoTH
My friend Kristen turned me onto the Jealous Sound several months back. It's a great CD - and this guy in her office absolutely loves them, too... so between the two I was really looking forward to seeing them live. They had 2 openers... The Plus Ones (which every time I try to remember their name I find myself struggling: The Push Pins? The Push Outs? For some reason it's not sticking) and Jackson, who's lead singer, Chris Shiflett, is from The Foo Fighters. The Plus Ones were just too teeny bopper for me... They do have one good song IMO, however... and yes, it's still teeny bopperish, but it's fun: It's called "All the Boys" off their It's a Calling CD (you can go to their site & find an MP3). I enjoyed it when they played that song, but the rest of their set wasn't doing it for me.
Jackson was just alright to me, but the lead singer's voice ruined it for me personally. (funny thing is, even on their site, his bio says he sings off key! he does!! I felt like Randy on American Idol... shakin my head and sayin' "Dude...") Although I thought he looked a lot like my good friend Justyn, so that was entertaining. But the music just wasn't movin me... my mind wandered.. I was bored. (see I don't like everything!!)
I really enjoyed the Jealous Sound set. It was great to hear them live after listening to their CD so much. It wasn't the best. thing. ever. but it was pretty good.. mostly just enjoyable to see them play live.
They did however have a lot of "young fans" in the audience who apparently LOOOOVE them, cuz they were going wild like Willo at a Hot, Hot Heat show. This is what the show looked like from where we were standing:
The X's on their hands indicate too young to drink. Actually, we find ourselves at a lot of shows like this! :)
Kristin and her friend showed up later - and we left by midnight so I could go home & sleep of any further impending sore throat doom.
