two families

This is my new favorite photo ever! Here I'm surrounded by my two siblings, my 16 year old little sister & my 31 year old 'little' brother... for the first time!
See Haylie & I share the same mom, and Max & I share the same dad. I was raised by my mom & she had Haylie when I was 16. But Max & I didn't actually even meet until I was 21! That same day I met my real dad briefly as well, but that's the last time I've had any contact at all with him (long story).
The good news is I've been very fortunate to cultivate a great relationship with my brother, especially now that he's been living in Santa Cruz for the past ~6 years! He's amazing and, as most of you know, now married to the lovely Samara & expecting (any day now)! so exciting!
Anyway, somehow I hadn't yet joined these two worlds... my sister & my brother, both so dear to me. So yesterday, Haylie got to meet Max for the first time, and I was surrounded by my siblings! (Which is almost weird for me to say considering it's only been maybe 10 years of having such... not the normal type of 'siblings' that most are raised with, ya know?)
We had a lovely brunch at their house & went down to Max's store,
Om Gallery afterwards. I'm so excited that any minute I'm going to be an Auntie for the first time!! I'll keep you posted. :)

My little sis is here this week! yay!
She got in late last night & we quickly got ready & went over to my friend Misty's awesome annual party, PNYE (Procrastinator's New Years Eve). Always a themed costume party, this year was 'Fast Food Nation', so there was everything from bacon to french fries, to Little Ceasar (Ted, and he had two REAL pizzas on a spear! haha) to the Tamale Lady (which was done sooo well!).
I only spotted Randy's photos up so far, but no doubt there is more to come, so I'll post them as they come available.
As for Haylie & I it's already been a whirlwind! We came home & crashed by maybe 1:30-2am... got up at 9 and drove down to Santa Cruz for brunch with (very pregnant & due any day) Samara, Max and his Momma. Then after going down to show Haylie Max's store, Om Gallery in downtown Santa Cruz, we headed back up here & hit the Mission Indie Mart (which I was supposed to be selling at, but I cancelled when I realized my sis would be here).
Now we're headed to a yummy dinner @ Emmy's w/ our favorite guy (& belated birthday boy), Mateo!

My friend Ron & I are going to have our work in this gallery/postcard art show this Sunday, called Loving You. It was really fun to create the work for this show, so please come down and celebrate the love with us (actually mine are quite snarky :)!
Sunday, Feb. 10th from 8pm to midnight @ Design Guild SF, 427 Bryant Street, between 2nd & 3rd. [view map] $10 at the door gets you gallery admission (and probably a glass of wine or two), a valentine postcard of your choice (could be mine!!), fashion designers, burlesque performers, live music & a photo kissing booth!
I will most likely get there around 8-ish, and I really hope you can come, too!

Ready to run!

I've never been a runner, and now - after being in BootcampSF since late August of '07 - I am! The girl next to me above is my awesome trainer, Gwen, who ran with me today. She's so supportive!
It was pretty cold & drisley - but really cool to be a part of it. There were 9000 people out there! Holy moly! I was really trippin' as we were loading on to the bus that took us to the start... all of these people really thought it was a good idea to get up at the crack of dawn (my alarm went off at 5:30am!) and RUN in the RAIN!? Weird!
But I'm really proud of myself for doing it. Mind you, a 5K is not that far at all, and thankfully pretty easy for me to do now - yay! So today was more about the doing it than anything. I feel really fortunate to actually have the able body (thank you feet, knees & lungs!) to run and am looking forward to getting faster and going further!
