Can you tell me, Aubs & Amanda had fun w/ the Photoboof action? Pretty sweet that a little elph takes it, resizes it & spits it out right there AND they get uploaded online. aaah, technology.
The very last collection are albums from Yahoo's migration, so they're from way back... I think 1999-2002. That said, there's still a large gap in terms of timeline. It was handy that Yahoo migrated over to Flickr, but I didn't start solely using Flickr until last year (2006). So all of my photos from about 2003-2006 are on Fotki, and before that (in between Yahoo and Fotki maybe?) there's a few years on ImageStation... I need to see if I can get links to all those posted in one place or something at least. Wow, I figured it out! This might be scary... but basically all of 2001-2002 can now be seen here.
Anyway - all my sets on Flickr are in collections now, so that's the big news here. Definitely an interesting way to look at major events!
I'm noticing a pattern in my relationships and recently put a funny little slideshow on flickr [using explodingdog's funny illustrations] to illustrate how these last couple have gone.
Note: Be sure to read through it with the titles and descriptions (turned on if you watch the slideshow), as the title of each is the original title on his site for each drawing & an important part of the story.
Sometimes all you can do is laugh, let go and move on, right!? If you relate to any of these in particular, add your comments!
So funny....Dennis found this random photo of all of us at the SXSW Interactive closing party (2006). It was taken by someone at Media Temple apparently, but the best part is the title & description on the photo: "One lucky lady in a "quadrant" of 2.0 killer app developers." haha! You got that right! ;)
This is awesome. If you're still feeling in the dark after my recent post about RSS, then watch this vid:
(note you probably can't see this video in your RSS feed - or at least I can't see them in Safari... so click the title of this post to view the video.)
The only difference with what this guy says is I recommended you use your browser (Safari or Firefox), because that's what I use. Then again I work from home on the same laptop all the time. Those of you who move from home to work and/or want to read it on your phones, should definitely sign up with Google Reader, or something similar.
Click here to subscribe to my RSS feed (save as a bookmark in your browser or add that link to your reader of choice), or use one of the links below to do all kinds of fun stuff.
Sharon hosted one of her Clothing Swaps again today, and I'm so glad Jess was there because the little jetsetter is traveling about 4 or 5 weeks out of July & August, so we got to see her to say Bon Voyage! Tomorrow she leaves for Australia, the lucky girl!
On the clothing swap side, I thankfully didn't come home w/ anything new, but dropped off about 2 boxes worth of clothes! yay!
Hey all you RSS reader folks! I've finally signed up & am posting links in Ma.gnolia (similar to del.icio.us, but better ;) AND have set up my RSS feed through Feedburner which means - for all you non-tech-savvy peeps - that if you re-bookmark my RSS feed you'll get to see them all in the same place! Not to mention I have the ability to also post photos from flickr just by adding a tag to my flickr photos, therefore there may be some flickr photos only posted in the feed & not on my blog. capiche!?
Don't know what the heck RSS is? Well, the easiest way I can explain it is that it's a way to bookmark a site, and have your browser - or RSS/news reader - let you know when that site has been updated! Often that's why they call it a subscription, because with every new issue (aka post or update) you get it delivered right to your door (aka browser or newsreader).
I use Safari, which makes it really easy, but Firefox makes it really easy as well...and if you're using Internet Explorer on a PC you should install & use Firefox anyway! Ooh, actually come to think of it, PC people can even install Safari now - huzzah!
with one click I can view all of my latest comments at once
:::
Also, as you may have noticed, I added links to the footer of every feed item & post. Easy ways for you to email the post, subscribe to my feed, stumble it, digg it, add to facebook, ma.gnolia & del.icio.us and more. Let me know if you love this, hate this or think I'm missing a site that you regularly post to.
Hopefully this helped some of you who have no idea what RSS is... and thanks again for reading & re-bookmarking my RSS feed!
I'm absolutely loving my new iPhone. I love how pretty it is, the amazing photos it takes, how effortless it was to set up. The fact that it has an iPod & CoverFlow within it, how easy it is to read mail & webpages... I could go on. That said, I have a wishlist! And seeing as how this weekend San Francisco will host the first ever iPhone DevCamp, I thought it'd be a great time to put this out there to all those smarty developers working on the next rev.
My wishlist for the iPhone:
The ability to click & drag text to select, cut & paste. I *loved* having this ability on my Treo... it's a biggie!
Similarly, being able to navigate through text by arrowing left/right without deleting all the way back to the word or using the magnify to get to a spot within a word.
Have the keyboard go horizontal in email & texting (like it does on Safari)
Custom ringtone - and of course, being able to select something from the iPod makes perfect sense!
MMS - aka the ability to send photos via text (many are blown away you can't do this yet, just email)
Customization of the dashboard (I don't need quick access to stocks)
Being able to send a text message to more than 1 person at a time.
Ability to forward a text message
Text messaging needs character count
I'd like a SMS sent folder. i.e. sometimes i send things that I just want in my sent folder, not to always have to look at the one sided convo in what I consider my inbox
The headphones jack won't work with a lot of 3rd party headphones, like my hands free Jabra or my fancy, noise-cancelling Shure E3s. Yes, I've seen the adapter they're selling, or i could try to modify/slice off some plastic on mine to make it work, but if you ask me this is one of the most major oversights in the construction of the phone's hardware. Except for...
When taking a photo, I'd like the button to be something I can press on the side of the phone or something. It's very hard to take self portraits with that slipery on screen button and it makes me feel like I might drop the phone.
Lastly, overall I miss a contextual menu within every app. i.e. so that if you're in Mail, you can go into preferences for Mail right from there (instead of out to Settings).
Added 7/7: I want preferences for say, when you have a text message, and you slide to unlock, that it goes directly to that message, instead of wherever you were the last time you used the phone OR that you could set it to always go straight to the dashboard (again, instead of where you just where).
Added 7/7: When you click on a number, say in a text message or in contacts, I want a prompt to ask me if I want to call, SMS or save the # BEFORE it calls. Is it just me or have you all accidently called people way too many times. "End Call! End Call!" haha
Added 7/8: Ability to search address book
Added 7/10: The phone should have a default area code to call & text to if there's not one in your address book already (it freaks out when you text w/o an area code & even if you edit the contact it sometimes doesn't pick up on it unless you wipe out the first text you sent?) Regardless, isn't there some fancy script I could run in Address Book that says if there's no area code on a ph #, make it 415?
Added 7/10 (from Paul's comment): Ability to pause music without looking at the screen and/or having to go back into the iPod area.
Added 7/10: Have the USB continue to charge even when my laptop's sleeping (don't iPods do that?)
Otherwise it's f*ing brilliant and I love it. :)
The nice thing is, as Alex said when I was first typing this all out to him over IM, most of these things are SOFTWARE, so they can be fixed if Apple does it right. I'm happy to 'suffer' through until then! :)
Do you have any requests/wishlist items I missed here? Tell me!
Sunday night I did my first WilloToons (shop) table event at the Save Net Radio Benefit. It went great and was soooo fuN! I loved having my Mom there with me, and she got to meet all my friends, including my new sweetie, Sander.
"Note how Micki is briefly checking her device and texting in the middle of dinner. This is perfectly acceptable (and even expected) behavior in today's modern highly interconnected multitasking culture. Get used to it. Evolve or die.
We did not evolve greater cognitive capacity to have it sit idle due to obsolete socio-cultural conventions."
