octohug bib (embroidered)

Hey guys! Do any of you use or post to ThisNext? I thought I'd add a few WilloToons items to it. If you have a list on there, I'd love it if you'd add some of my items!

Here's one of my first ones:

This sweet lil' 'octohug' bib & matching onesies are embroidered with a cute little octopus, arms wrapped tight around himself with a little red heart. Awww, sometimes you have to give *yourself* a big hug!

birthday week of fabulousness!

Ali, Misty, and Willo after dinner at 2223
Originally uploaded by bagelradio.

Monday night I kicked it off with a deeeelicious dinner @ 2223 Market with my rocktastic pals, Ted, Misty & Aliiiii!

Ted & Misty were originally going to hit a show, but when that got nixed, and the talk of more drinks somewhere came up, it basically became the best idea ever. Ted, having work to do, left us at Lime where we had soooooo many glasses of wine and even a shot (dial-a-shot!) That one thanks to my girl Misty, who is crazy! :p

Seriously, Misty!? A shot!? Ok, twist my arm.

aww, girlfriends are the bestest!!

It was perfect that it became a super fun girls night out, because we hadn't hung out, all 3 of us, in so long. I love you girls so much! Thanks for being such great friends! And thanks to Ted who entrusted us with his camera, because I didn't have mine with me!

Internet radio needs your help!

Not sure if you all have heard about this yet, but it's best summarized Ted's posts on the issue, especially this one:
"The Copyright Royalty Board just substantially increased the fees internet radio sites must pay to record labels -- fees not paid by traditional radio stations -- a move that will kill off every last independent online radio station and websites like Pandora. Once these new rates kick in the wealth of programming available during what will be remembered as the Golden Age of Internet Radio will disappear almost overnight. All that will remain will be the stations and sites funded by the biggest of the big money corporations. You know, the nice folks who currently filter out all of the good music and play the same 40 songs by major label artists over and over again. Continue reading..."
Ak! Seriously, we can't let this happen people! Internet radio is the *only* radio I listen to!

What Can YOU Do to Help Save Internet Radio? I'm so glad you asked. :)
  • Post a link or banner on your site: Raise awareness. There are seriously people who don't know about this. Just mention Clear Channel (aka the devil), and most people are more than willing to help you fight the good fight.
  • Call your Congress person! Go to this site, enter your zip code & pick up the phone. It just takes a second & every voice counts!
    SaveNetRadio.org
  • If you live in San Francisco, come to the Benefit to Save Internet Radio on Sunday, July 1st! I'm even donating a few items from the WilloToons Shop for the cause, so please join us at Bottom of the Hill to show your support, win some cool prizes & rock out to some of our favorite bands! I really hope to see you there!
Oh & go listen to my favorite online radio station: BAGeL Radio!

shop DNS fixed!!

Well, sorta... Basically by 86ing the problematic CNAME & doing an htaccess redirect (thanks Alex!), everyone can now see the shop! phew! This, as a lot of you know, has been SUCH A THORN IN MY SIDE! One that is now gone - yay! Thanks to all of you who have helped me test it out over the last few weeks!

::::

I'm stoked because I haven't really been blogging, as to keep my last post front & center on the homepage. So now I can start blogging more, and boy do I have a lot to show & tell!

Off to check some print proofs, and have lunch w/ my BFF, but I might even venture to post something this afternoon. Oh ya, I'm back on the horse! :D

Hope you're all doing AWESOME. Say hi.

willotoons mission

For as long as I can remember, I have drawn & doodled characters and had big ideas for them. Long lists of ideas, most of which felt almost impossible to create for a myriad of reasons.

Fast forward to the present day, and I'd already taken the leap of venturing out on my own and have a very successful web & graphic design business. However, I realized that I still wasn't focusing on my art & my ideas! I still maintained a growing list of creative ideas, but my clients would come first, or fear would hinder me and the next thing I'd know another year had gone by.

Over the last few years though, I really started to get more serious in my thinking regarding creating products using these ideas. Because so much of the design work I have done has been online in the virtual world, I really wanted something tangible that I could hand to someone. That, mixed in with all the funny quips & quotes my friends and I have been saying over the years and the countless times we said - 'we need to make a tshirt out of this!' ? I decided to take matters into my own hands and say ?You know what? This is it. It's now or never!?

I must say that everything came together magically for me once the decision was made. I collaborated more during that time in creating the business. I felt so alive & awake orchestrating it all and bringing in the right people to help me along. It was (and IS) amazing!

I realized that what I have loved about my web & graphic design business is the satisfaction of helping people. That I can provide them with my design skills and create something that makes them look great and feel confident in their product and my design. I have created many websites and brochures that celebrate a company or an organization, and now with WilloToons I am able to offer products that celebrate the individuals that wear them!

I love making people feel comfortable and amazing, and it's my hope that you put my garments or jewelry on and feel awesome!

I also love sharing my story about how I got started, and think that there are so many people who have great talent & great ideas, but don't know where to start. Honestly (and I know it?s been said many times before, but I can say it emphatically!) - if I can do it, anyone can do it?and it really isn't as hard as you think! If you make yourself a priority and envision what you want, you can do it, you can create it!

My mission is to:
  • inspire creativity
  • bring a smile to the faces of people who see my items
  • wrap people in cute, funny, quality items
  • offer items that give joy & allow people to express their love of friends and family
  • celebrate & empower the inner geek... whether it's rock, code, design, or just the web & all its super-glory!
Here's my working mission statement:

WilloToons is one designer's mission to take her love for the web, rock 'n roll and cartoon illustration, and turn it into a unique line of products for other geekyfantastic music lovers. Check out the WilloToons shop for high quality tees for guys & girls, super cute onesies & bibs for baby, fun jewelry and more!
