a beautiful bluebird!
Originally uploaded by Willo.
The past few days home (and not working) have been so wonderful!
Thursday I went & worked out, and then headed over to grab Aubs for our fancy mani/pedi appointments. Afterwards we had lunch (and wine!) at this yummy little french place in Russian Hill called Le Petit Robert, and then headed downtown to return gifts & cash in on some of the sales. SO FUN!

It was a beautiful sunny blue sky day. We definitely shopped till we dropped, and I had just enough time to bring it all home, and grab a quick bite before going out to meet my good friend Holly for a drink (or 5) at Mission Bar. SO great to catch up with my girlfriends after being away!

Yesterday (Friday), I worked out & then had a surprise visit from my old friend Gradiva who needed to use my PC. Unfortunately my OS wasn't updated enough for her needs (my PC basically has just been collecting dust for the last few years), but it was fun to see her & catch up none the less.
In the afternoon Baillie & I hit the SFMoma, which was fun (I hadn't been there in waay too long), ate at yummy 'withcraft downtown (I heart their logo, and my salad was pretty amazing, too), and then came back here & watched RIZE, which is such a trip! Have you seen it!?!? Seriously a fascinating look at what's goin on with this whole krumping/clowning dance thing happening in the inner city. I had no idea! Anyway, I could elaborate, but I definitely recommend renting it.
OK, my hands are numb & I'm going to rearrange my apartment, but here's a few more photos that sorta illustrate the bar hopping fun of the rest of last night. ;)
Hope you're all having some relaxing days off too!

yay! me, mom & haylie
Originally uploaded by Willo.
We had a wonderful Christmas here at the O'Brien's! My Momma spoils us lucky girls so much. So fun!
I'll post more details later, but right now I've been sitting in my pajamas all day geeking out on the computer, so it's time to put some clothes on and get out of the house. hehe.
That said, if you're still lounging around (as you should be) and/or at work (wishing you weren't), then you should view the photos & vids!

Well, after a 17 hour travel day I finally made it up to Steamboat on Friday night around 1:30am. oy.
It's just as you would think it would be: snowy & cold! Thankfully, unlike SF, they have insulation & heat here in the mountains. Truly my only saving grace here in the midst of it all. Well that & the comforts of my Momma's cozy home with the tree, decorations & cookies everywhere. danger danger! :p

The first morning here, Haylie & I got up early & headed over to see off some close family friends before they flew out. Joe & Haylie are good friends & it was great we got to have a few hours of overlap to give some holiday hugs, because otherwise I hardly ever see them (they live in Florida).

Unfortunately I left my camera battery charger at home, and it's dead now after these photos, but luckily I can use Haylie's for the remaining time I'm home.
I can hardly believe Christmas is tomorrow! Seems like it just got here so fast this year. Or maybe it's like that every year? Regardless, I'm glad to be home for a few days, relaxing and spending time with my Mom & sis.
I hope you're having a wonderful holiday wherever you are! xo

"Hands" by The Raconteurs
Girl you got those hands that heal
Help me get in touch with what I feel
'Cause you understand and you sympathize
And you know me best it's no surprise
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
Girl you got those eyes that see
Help me find the good that's inside me
'Cause you're the only one who really knows
How the feeling comes and why it goes
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
When you listen there's a hope and I know I'm being hurt
When you smile at me and I know and we don't have to speak a word
When you're with me there's a light and I can see my way
When you speak to me it's a song and I know what to say
::::
watch the video (or listen to it), and be sure to catch the opening riff. I love that.

I'm mostly posting this to test my "Blog This" feature on flickr, but while I'm at it, might as well let you all know I did post a few photos from last week's Darker My Love/Pink Mountaintops show @ the Independent. They
start here.
It was a good show. Darker My Love really impressed me with just what incredible musicians they were. I even pulled out some air-drumming I was so moved. heh.
update: OK, this layout is wrong, but I'm gonna leave it up here for now to show flickr support.

On last Friday's 480 Minutes (aka
Bagel Radio's Friday Live Show),
Ted counted down
his top 10 albums & top 50 songs of 2006! I love seeing other people's lists, and especially Ted's considering he's responsible for a large portion of my new music finds.
I'm not sure if I'll get around to actually listing out my favs for the year, but I definitely have some swirling around in my head. Maybe I'll do that on the plane back to Colorado on Friday? :) Either way, Ted's are reaally close to mine (specifically that my #1 song of the year is hands down "Hospitalbeds" by Cold War Kids - that song is SO GOOD!!), so
check em out!
In the same vein, my rock star
show ho sistaaa Ali Mggeeeee recently put together
a list of all the shows she's been to this year. And, as you can probably guess, I've been standing right next to her for a good 95% of em. awww yaaa!
This year has been AWESOME in so many ways, particularly in the area of stellar music & kick ass friends. *sigh* I'm a happy, happy girl.

all dolled up
Lastnight
Ev,
Sara,
Chris &
Mai put on a spectacular holiday party! They called it a Holiday 'Tea Party' because they had it on (cited from the invite)
"December 16th to celebrate not only the traditional end-of-year holidays but also (looks at Wikipedia), um ok, hey, the 233rd anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. We can each commemorate the Tea Party's act privately. Our mouths can be like the harbor. Our liquor can be like the tea. Our hands can be like, like, like -hm- aggrieved patriots engaged in non-violent protest committing treasonous acts but who are also totally into giving gifts to loved ones." haha! Awesome.
Evan & Sara held it at their new place. A 'penthouse' downtown, that is breathtaking and something out of a movie where you are envying the character's amazing, impeccably designed city apartment the whole time. Oh & we didn't get to see it because it's not installed yet - but it was *very* fun to learn yesterday that (just as I expected) Ev & Sara were the ones to purchase
Courtney's amazing cloud bed! I hope I get to see it all set up in it's new home. I love (and Courtney does to) that it stayed within the 'family'. Now she can go visit her creation instead of having to say goodbye forever. Very cool.
I got to see a ton of great friends and honestly I wish it could have gone on longer. It was fabulous.
Thank you E, S, C & M! xo

ryan & max, mustache kings
My awesome brother, Max (pictured above on the right), & his fiance, Samara, came up from Santa Cruz last Saturday night & I was so stoked to have them partying w/ us!
We were all supposed to go to a costume party, but it ended up being lame so we just took our party to the Hemlock! A huge crew of us walked in all blinged out (the costume party's theme was
Robert Goulet style for the men - mustaches & sweaters, and the women had to show lots of skin, sequins & be tacky enough to like men with mustaches & cadillacs - ha!) and had such a great time we closed the place down.

But you know us, we couldn't just stop then, so what did we do? After party at Jess'!! w00t!
Insanely fun night! My crew RULES. You won't wanna miss
this photo set.

Misty's post & photos, but hadn't put my photos up yet. It was such a fun night & we all couldn't have gotten each other more perfect prezzies. xoxo love you girls!

There's also a photo set posted from Monday night's
Panda & Angel show @ Bottom of the Hill, and a ton of other random day to day ones I've posted in
my Flickr stream, like:
my new bag from
quietdoing.etsy.com (that I love!), a
cute kitty I saw at Mat's, a photo of
Mat & I on his bday yesterday, the
dresses that didn't make the cut for last
Saturday night, and
photos from my new TREO 600 (I finally got one - yay!). :)

My brother & Samara were up too & totally rallied the dress up thing w/ us and we all had SUCH a blast. Big surprise, right? :)
Again I need to fix my camera/computer issues before mine will go up (I have a TON of really great ones!), but for now check out Aubrey's set for a sneak peak.

As always I'm finding myself in the first week of December thinking "crap!" because I haven't hardly even thought about this whole Christmas thing. Part of me is even a bit of a Scrooge because every year it honestly feels like more than I can deal with on top of all the other work & life responsibilities I'm trying to tackle. But then I find the perfect gift for a friend, and we plan to have a fun dinner together to celebrate, and all the overflowing holiday love and joy comes flooding back.
I will tell you though, I refuse to step foot downtown this year and am going to try to do most of my shopping online. Well, online and at
various craft fairs around the city. Support your local creatives! And here's hoping we all don't go too crazy over the next 30 days. :)

all the girls! jess, ali, me, aubs & daisy
Originally uploaded by Willo.
Lastnight all of us girls got dolled up for a night out on the town! Our friend Aubrey works at Google and set us all up to get in to their huge holiday party. (Thanks Aubs!) So we all started at Daisy's for pre-drinks & apps (Thanks Daisy!) and then headed down to Pier 48 in a limo-van! w00t!
Many, many glasses of wine later (that I somehow managed to not spill a drop of on my white silk shirt, thank goodness), some dancing & lots of laughs we found ourselves back in the mission for a couple more drinks. *sigh* I have the best time with my girls! :)
