Sorry I forgot to let you all know, but there are several albums of show photos from the last few weeks posted now:
Yes, we've been busy little show hos & bros!
Oh, and, as promised, I've finally posted all the videos from the last month, too!
And some other random videos from events you might recall:
I am alive, I really am. Frankly, I'm more than alive lately - I'm on fire! heee!
haha.
Seriously.
Ali & I have an inside joke now from when she called me a few weeks back. I told her I was going to take a nap, and when called me and asked if I did, I shrieked, "No! I couldn't sleep because my life is so awesome!" And it's true. it really is.
See, we'd had an
insanely fun night before (read: I should have been super tired, hungover & out of it the entire next day), but instead I felt great all day. And because we had yet another show that night, I thought I'd take a little disco nap to recharge. But turned out I was feeling so great that I couldn't sleep!
I could go more into this... but I can't right now. I actually wanted to instead fill this space with other random tidbits of my life, and I promise I'll come back to this juicy life altering stuff later.
I finished
Tender Bar and loved it so much, I was almost depressed when it was over. You know how that is? It was SOO good. I was like "what reason do I have to go to the gym now that it's over!?" Luckily I borrowed
Million Little Pieces from my workout buddy/neighbor, Annie, and therefore I'm revived (aka absorbed in another heart wrenching page turner). aaaaah.
Tonite I went into
Green Apple Books for the first time. I KNOW! Can you believe it (
Darren)?! I couldn't either. How could that be possible? Well, I'm hardly over in that hood, so that might explain it. But tonite I ate at the oh so yummy
Burma Superstar with my friend Kristin, and my car was conveniently parked just a few doors down from this lovely bookstore. I feasted at dinner, and then feasted again on all the eye candy shelves of books, books and more books.
I almost bought
Diary (has anyone read that?), but only went home with
Lucky. I figure, Christmas is coming. Well, that & honestly I know so many friends with stacks of books they're prepared to lend me, I thought I'd exhaust those channels first. Anyway... it was nice to wander around a book store. Frankly I really haven't done that in quite some time.
OK, I'm going to get off the computer now... but remember: Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life! :)

now with some sean action
Originally uploaded by Willo.
So as you may have noticed, I am FINALLY catching up after being severely behind on posting my photos. This month has been really busy with lots of fun events & this one was possibly one of the "funner" ones.
View all the photos from
MNDC Girls dinner @ Esperpento + Drinks at LAC ( w/ the whole crew). Note, this night happened 2 weeks ago, way back on Monday, October 9th! :p

the girls post dinner w/ some scary boys on the street (I think Aubrey's in love)
You may recall
a few blog posts back, I also linked to

Our friend Jordan put together an awesome competition for us to all taste & vote on the best burrito in town. Each of us named our favorite taqueria, teams were assigned and we all met at Dolores Park for a day of drinking beer, eating chips & salsa and carefully evaluating every delicious burrito brought to the table in a quest to find the best!

Jordan's dog Luka gazes in awe thinking, "wow, you're the best dad EVAR!"

professional burrito eaters

yay! me & ali!
And because I know you all are dying to know...The winner was
La Taqueria, followed closely by my favorite and Ali & I's team choice:
Papalote! After that it was Gordos (sorry, not sure which location), then
Taqueria Cancun (which is a favorite of mine and in the taste testing I chose it as my #2 fav),
Taqueria San Francisco, "Someplace in Marin" (hah), and lastly
Nick's Crispy Taco's (rule of thumb there obviously being get their tacos instead).
SO yes, in summary - this idea & the eating & drinking in the park day it inspired was SUPER FUN! Next up we're having a sushi off! yumm. My friends rule.

a few more here.
Ev &
Sara have an awesome place in Russian Hill that looks out over the entire bay. Needless to say it's the perfect vantage point to watch the planes of Fleet Week go buzzing around! Plus, it was great to see that set of friends again.

so close you could touch 'em. (well not really, but you get the idea)

it's not every day you're entertained by planes

jeff was loving it! :)

Octopus!
Originally uploaded by Aubs.
TNDC this week was girls only and hosted at Casa de Willo! We first enjoyed yummy Thai takeout on the deck (yay for warm SF weather in October!), while sharing girly gossip & secrets. hehee. Girls rule, boys drool.
After just the right amount of wine, we grabbed sharp knives & started carving! :p I didn't carve a punkin last year, so I was really excited to this year, and doing it with my girls here was super fun!

Aubs, Ali, Abby & I (and Kristin was here, too! See?)
After we finished our masterpieces we all cuddled up & watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy. Aww yaaa, girls night! xoxo

There's some hysterical ones...I am getting REALLY good at making funny faces at the camera. As you can see here, here and here. hehee.
I think my gravestone is going to read something like, "She sure knew how to have a good time!" haha.

horrific truths

I eat eggs almost every day... but noticed this ad in this month's BUST & checked it out the other day. Absolutely horrific. I am not sure I can stop eating eggs, but I will most definitely be looking at the packaging a LOT closer now. Buying only from places like Trader Joe's & Whole Foods who make concerted efforts to only stock humane & cage free eggs.
One more thing I have to add here, is that diets like the South Beach Diet, etc, proselytize eating eggs so much that I'm sure they've added to the epidemic. For example, read this on their site. It bums me out they're not making any mention of trying to buy cage & humane free, considering their wide audience. I wrote them an email about it.
I posted this a few days ago on Flickr, so there's quite a few comments on there now. If you feel like joining in the discussion or want to add your two cents, click the photo above.

Willo and Ali
Originally uploaded by mistylwhite.
Ali threw a rockin party on Friday night in celebration of our favorite month: Rocktober!!
It was a costume party - dress up as your favorite rockstar (or really any rock/pop star and/or musician) and our peeps really rallied with costumes, which made it soooo fun!!
I had a long list of ideas for my costume, including Steve from Hot Hot Heat, Janet Weiss (kick ass drummer for Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, and now Steven Malkmus), Shakira or Madonna - either Cowboy Madonna, or Like A Virgin Madonna. As you can see from the above, I went as "Cowboy Madonna", circa her 2000 "Music" album. Mostly because it was easy - I owned everything I wore. ha.
Ali is Pat Benatar, and we also had appearances by PJ Harvey, Bono (who later simply took off his sunglasses & became Johnny Cash), Slash, Meg & Jack White of the White Stripes, Karen O, Jem, Danzig, Barbara Mandrell, Fall Out Boy, Blondie/Debbie Harry, and more! SOOO FUN!!!
I have yet to upload my photos, of course, but others have & they're awesome! You can check them all out on Flickr.
We rule!

There's a new same day delivery service in town called
Lickety Ship. However, they're somewhat expensive and they have limited hours. I agree with
Caterina's post about them, "...for a delivery service like this to be successful, they should, in almost any case, be the answer to "I need X right now, I will call Y.""
Still, good to know it's there I suppose.

I honestly can't recall ever liking Tapioca before, but
Kozy Shack's No Sugar Added Tapioca is my new favorite snack! It's soo yummy!
My friend Trevor just sent me this awesome email:
"The other night I was at Bottom of the Hill in my dream and there was this awesome band playing. The crowd was medium size and everyone was waaaay into it. Dancing... spilling beer... I hung out by the bar for a bit talking to some friends then finally made my way up to the stage to find that YOU were the kick ass drummer in this kick ass band.
good job."
hehee! that's so fun!
*sigh* I do miss bangin' on those drums! (I took lessons all last year for those of you who didn't know. Also, Trevor is the kick ass drummer in
Hijack the Disco.)
Thanks Trevor! :) xoxo
p.s. Another 'for those of you who didn't know' tidbit. Did you know my girlfriends & I had even started a band? Yup! We'd get together & practice at Lennon Studios (well, we did 2x anyway :p) and we even have a
website! Now we just need tshirts & we'll be legit. haha!
I had to put drumming down to focus on my business & all the other (long lists) creative endeavors I have, but some day I hope to pick it back up again. It's sooo fun!

Something happened lastnight that RARELY happens: I was in bed before midnight! Actually it was even 11pm. Weird!
Yesterday I was SOOO tired for some reason. And no, it wasn't a hangover. I hadn't even gone out Saturday night, and because of that got 8-9 hours of sleep, but I was still fighting heavy eye-lids all day. Finally around 6:30 I gave up & take a nap for an hour, which felt good, but I woke up still feeling tired & out of it. So instead of trying to work I gave in & decided to just chill. I watched some TiVo'd shows (LOST! wow, crazy beginning to the season) & then watched a movie. But I was so sleepy that I had to stop the movie early & go back to bed! I know some of you are used to going to bed early, but for me it never happens, so I'm blown away by this.
I should probably add, I have been fighting off a little cold of sorts this last week, so that might be it. But I've been feeling like it's going away since the symptoms are pretty much gone now. The sore throat came & went last Wednesday and I had some snot Thurs-Fri, but it's been pretty calm since then. As soon as I felt something come on I started taking double good care of myself by not drinking & going to bed as early as possible (which for me is about 12:30), and taking my
Perfect Health vitamins (my version of Zicam or Airborne). I've felt like I kicked it before it even became anything.
Thankfully I've been really healthy this year, which I attribute to taking
a good daily vitamin, exercising regularly, and eating whole fresh foods. I think I used to get colds/sick way more often, and this is actually the first small cold I've gotten in *over* a year, so I'm happy it's been so short & sweet (knock on wood). Maybe the sleepy mcsleeperson stuff is my body just making double sure it's never coming back.

Wow, Stub Hub called me this morning & apparently someone used my card to charge some Oakland/49ers tix - to the tune of $556!!!
Thankfully Stub Hub has a fraud dept & this charge came up as a red flag because of a wrong billing address or something. So after double checking with me that it was in fact a fraudulent charge, they called my bank & then my bank called me & we had to cancel my debit card. Doesn't that suck!?
It's scary cuz I didn't lose it - somehow someone got my card #. Maybe from some online purchase or something, but I consider myself pretty web savvy, so it's not like I filled out any "update your personal information" type of things (which was one of her questions for me). She said they had an odd email address, and I think she said billing address, too... but they had my name..... scary!
Anyway, I'm just glad it was caught now. Man, identity and credit card theft/fraud... definitely a scary thing. Keep an eye on your accounts, people!

show buddies!
Originally uploaded by Willo.
L to R: Gabe, Ali, Quinn, Brett, me & Ryan
This was our crew @ the Chad Vangaalen/Band of Horses show lastnight @ the Fillmore! The show was nothing short of *amazing*, and I have some great photos of the bands because we were practically front row! But again don't have time to sort through them all just yet so, thought I'd at least post this great one of the posse!
It's so awesome to have developed such an awesome crew of show buddies!
p.s. Notice Brett's wearing the same
Che Jobs shirt Lane was wearing at Monday night's Fillmore show!? hehe!
Buzz has created a very popular tshirt! awesome.
p.s.s. It just dawned on me looking at this photo, that I have *the internet* to thank for introducing me to all these peeps! If it weren't for
Blogger I wouldn't have started blogging and/or reading
Jane's blog, who (through a funny story) I finally ended up meeting and becoming good friends with... and she introduced me to
Evan (founder of Blogger and now
ODEO) and we all went to
Jason's 4th of
July (2003) BBQ where I met
Eric, who worked with them at Google/Blogger...and Eric & I became
good friends and he told me about this
KRON4 Blogger meetup (2005) where I met
Ryan (and a bunch of other peeps)...AND also in 2005 Eric introduced me to
Ali, who he grew up with in Ohio...and, as he suspected, Ali & I became
serious show ho buddies...and soon we discovered
SonicLiving and then got on
Dodgeball, which is (literally) how I met
Brett, who then had a
birthday party where I met
Quinn who introduced us to his friend Gabe. Yay for the internet!

I had dinner with Matt, Lane & Courtney at (yummy) Godzila Sushi before hitting the Spinto Band/Art Brut/We Are Scientists show @ the Fillmore.
I have photos of the bands, but don't have time to sort through & upload them now... so thought I'd at least post the people pics now. :)

Our awesome friend Gabe arranged a huge group dinner @ the Pacific Coast Brewing Co before hand & then insisted we sit on the Oakland side at the Smackdown "for the full East Bay experience". ha. Super fun night!

Afterwards we hit Abby's Go Go Bday party - which I only took one photo at, so see
Aubrey's photo set for those - and then got pizza. woohoo!

frightened birdy
Originally uploaded by Willo.
My kitty, Kazoo, brought me present today. At first I just heard him back come inside through the window, but then next thing I knew there was this major rustling in the kitchen and I thought "omg, what if it's not Kazoo & it's some other wild animal that just came in my house?". So I ran into the kitchen & found Kazoo on the counter with a bird in his mouth & feathers everywhere...

It even started a little early this year, considering I just went to 5 shows in 7 days. aww yaaa, BRING IT!
To review: Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton performing (on 9/22), only a few at Cafe du Nord & Lucky 13 afterwards, which you can find
right here. The Phoenix show, the next night (9/23), ROCKED and here's my
recent blog post & link to photos about that, in case you missed it. Sunday (9/24) after Buzz & Courtney's beach bday (
blog post) I hit the Ben Kweller show with Ryan & Mario. Again, sadly didn't take photos because my card was all used up from the day at the beach, but I'm amazed I haven't at least blogged about it because OMG it was AWESOME!!! One of my favorite shows this year I think, only because the 'vibe' (if I may use that word) was soooo awesome. I was also a little drunkle so that may have helped. :p But I heart Ben Kweller SO much! That whole day was insanely fun.
This last week we had
Silversun Pickups w/ Viva Voce @ the Rickshaw Stop (9/28) and it was awesome. Of course. Except for that it was sold out, no thanks to Live105, and therefore there were a bunch of tools who are new to "our band"* and it took all the patience I could muster to deal with them. I pretty much was so fed up, especially with
this idiot, that I vowed to just leave after they played Kissing Families**. To which I must document: After the song was over and the 'in the know' portion of the crowd had just belted out the lyrics with all their might, the fools standing in front of us (or the "stripey shirts", as
Ali calls em) shrugged & said, "huh, that must be on their first album or something." *rolls eyes* And then they played Lazy Eye, and of course I had to stay for that.
*I know, I'm a snob.
**Kissing Families = My #1 favorite song of 2005.

I heart Silversun Pickups
Viva Voce, who was one of the openers, was great also! I've had their CD's for awhile, not sure who turned me onto them originally (was it you?!), but I have been looking forward to checking them out live ever since. I had heard at some point that they were "San Francisco's best kept secret" or something, so I dunno... that's all I needed to hear to keep them close to my heart, give em a good listen and look out for when they were playing live. Perfect that they opened for one of my favorite bands. We were up front & I really enjoyed watching the drummer. What's up with all the
long hair & beards these days? I'm having a time warp back to the 70's.
View all the photos from this show (on Flickr).

This last Friday night started with a FEAST!!

Korean BBQ extravaganza @ the Wooden Charcoal Barbeque House
I have had Korean BBQ before, but not like
this. It was very fun & I even came away smelling like campfire - wooohoo! haha. I was invited to this dinner by my friend Kevin (
photo), who was my main contact at TicketWeb (ongoing client of mine) before he bought a round the world ticket & has been
traveling ever since! awesome! It was great to see him & catch up, especially considering he's going to live in London now & work between there & Barcelona. nice! I wish you the best, Kevin, and can't wait to come visit you on that side of the puddle.
Next up was picking up my girls Ali & Jess, and meeting up with Aubs, Jordan, Ryan, Misty and Sean for the show at Slims with
Division Day,
Two Seconds &
Birdmonster! I'm so into all three of these bands, and they were great, as always. A fun night all around! Great to see the Birdmonster boys back in town, and fun running into Elise and
Mike & Anna, too! wooo!

rock show blur fantasticness. this is when division day came up
& joined birdmonster at the end of their set. awesome!

I'll get to Saturday night at some point in the next few days. Time for bed!

Today I was struck by a paragraph in the book I'm reading:
"You must do everything that frightens you...Everything. I'm not talking about risking your life, but everything else. Think about fear, decide right now how you're doing to deal with fear, because fear is going to be the great issue of your life, I promise you. Fear will be the fuel for all your success, and the root cause of all your failures, and the underlying dilemma in every story you tell yourself about yourself. And the only chance you'll have against fear? Follow it. Steer by it. Don't think of fear as the villain. Think of fear as your guide, your pathfinder..."
