dorky mac news
Yay!!! I'm *finally* back up on my Powerbook!For the record...when you're restoring an entire disk w/ Retrospect, the OS versions have to be exactly the same! So what happened was I must have received it back from the doctor w/ the latest & greatest 10.4.5 or something, because loading on my backup didn't work (to the tune of freezing at the very end, having to power down and then not booting up at all again after that - lovely!).
So I completely wiped the drive again & installed Panther (what I had laying around at the time), thinking I could just replace the HD w/ my full backup that has Tiger on it, but nooooo... must be the same down to a 't'. 10.4.4 = 10.4.4. Now I know! Ya, so thats' what I did today: Installed Tiger, did all the updates, etc & wala!! A big thanks to Kristin & Michael, Mario and all the rest of you who had to listen to be ramble on about it!
Now I just need to buy some kind of backup mac...for if I have to send off this puppy again like that. Preferably with FW800 or faster, as this week w/ a FW400 wasn't as fun (only because the backups take 8 hours). Mario said there's rumors about a new mac mini coming out tomorrow? hmmm... we'll see! :)
