10 days later...

This week's been crazy. Monday afternoon my Powerbook's HD crashed. Sadness! Luckily I had a full backup from the previous Wednesday, but I'd done about 4 or 5 hours on an animation on Friday night that is totally gone now. However, things could be worse, right? This is the 2nd time I've been able to completely restore my computer using my Retrospect backups. I frickin love that program. However having a PC as my backup computer is completely worthless if my backups are in Retrospect, so I am going to get myself a mac mini or something to use for when this crap happens again. And just use Virtual PC for the only thing I ever use my PC for anyway: Cross browser checking.

So the whole HD Crash of '06 sucked away roughly 2-3 solid work days this week. ug. BUT fortunately I have super nice friends like Kristin & Michael who happened to have an extra G4 laying around they could lend me. YAY!! And, again due to Retrospect's kick ass backup system, I was able to completely load on my computer to a drive of their G4 and I'm back in business. I heart mac's for this reason. Everything's just as it was on my powerbook... icons, bookmarks, preferences, everything. SO FRICKIN SWEET. The only thing really missing is the dual screen action I set up w/ my flat screen & the powerbook next to it, the higher MHz (this one is only 533 compared to my PB's 1.25GHz) and the FireWire 800 ports. Good things to keep in mind as I buy a backup mac. The Mac Mini's don't have FW800 either, but apparently the newest ones are shipping w/ the Intel Chip.

Anyone wanna buy my supped up PC? It's actually pretty sweet! I just have no use for the thing anymore. I'll write up the specs here eventually, but let me know if you're interested (interest would really help me get down to business with listing out the specs on it :p)

OK, so the next few posts are going to be my catching up from the last 10 days. :)
