Saturday's adventures
My activity has certainly picked up since last weekend! Friday night I stayed home & put a coat of primer on some furniture - wait till you see (not done, but will take photos when I am!). And then Saturday was chock full.I woke up & put a coat of color on one of the pieces, then got ready and headed to my hair appt with a new stylist: Paul! Recommended to me by Hez & Misty, this guy is awesome!! And since it's at Church & Market, I got to drop off my Holga film at Photoworks finally. The roll is from all the way back to my trip to Canada! jeeshk! I'm excited to get those back.
After my appt, I stopped by Otsu, and picked up these red mary janes I'd been wanting! And then even stopped in Sunhee Moon and bought a belt that I'd seen the same same day I saw those shoes and have been thinking of ever since! Then I headed to my friend Rob's birthday BBQ!

After that I came home pretty wiped out. I watched the Apple's iTunes/iPod Nano release video (that actually taught me a few things about the iTunes 5 I wasn't aware of - thanks Joe!), and then crawled into bed & took a quick catnap! All this activity after hardly any for a week had me wiped out. haha!
After a very short, but nice, little nap, Lyne called & I got up to start getting ready for my dinner out w/ Sandy & Derek! Sandy & I met in Colorado about 10 years ago and she was an integral part in my move to San Francisco!
A few years after I moved here she met Derek, and it wasn't long before they moved up to Healdsburg to open their restaurant: Tastings! Tastings was a success and they were listed in the Zagat's top 50 and everything! After a few years there they decided to move to Maui, where Tastings is flourishing once again. If you go to Maui, be sure to eat there & tell them I sent you! :)

"Duck out of South Kihei traffic into this slice of Sonoma’s finest—an award-winning restaurant transplanted from Healdsburg, CA. Slurp down a spanking fresh oyster and pair it with some bubbly or a half bottle of crisp white wine. Chef-owner Derek McCarthy utilizes local ingredients to push the frontier of island dining. The compelling menu of small “tastings” includes flat-iron steak, roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and house-smoked duck with hazelnuts and spinach. New American. Lucky for me they come back to visit their friends and Sandy's family once a year, and when they do it most always involves a FEAST! They'd been hearing great things about SF's Marina restaurant A 16 - even all the way in Maui - so they had to try it for themselves. And try it we did! I think we had one of everything on the menu & it was delicious!! Paired with great wine & wonderful company - it was a delightful evening!

Case in point: It is always such a joy to see David & Ken, too. Ken is a talented East Bay artist, who is so animated and fun to talk to. He's an amazing person and we had beautiful discussions lastnight on everything from Hurricane Katrina, the lack of good education in this nation to our passions & desires to create art. David is a doll, and was one of the first people I met in San Francisco. Him & Sandy showed me around the city & I'll never forget the great memories of that first weekend. I love David so much & am so happy that I am able to see him again after all these years! xoxo

Today I've been chillin. I had a wonderful conversation with my friend Karrie. Her & Wayne are going to stay here next weekend while Lyne & I head down to LA! I'm glad I can repay the favor of offering them a place to stay since they so graciously hosted me while I was in Brooklyn this last spring. Plus, they're kitty lovers & so they'll be kitty sitting Kazoobie, too!
OK, off to finish up the furniture painting. Hope you all had a great weekend!
